Playwriting for Adults

150.00

Thursdays 6:15pm-7:45pm

Winter Session: January 11th - March 8th

Description:

Whether you've been a writer all your life or have just decided to pick up the pencil. This class is for you. Like most things in life, there’s more than one way to write a play. This class will focus on instilling student-playwrights with the various tools they might need in writing a diverse collection of plays. Each week will focus on a different skill/tool, culminating in each student crafting and revising a 10-minute play.

Instructor: Kirsten Easton

Kirsten Easton was born and bred in the suburbs of sunny Southern California. Though she now makes her home in Colorado, she’s a California girl at heart and finds any excuse to wear a good sandal. She holds a B.A. in both Theater and Sociology from Occidental College and an M.F.A. in Playwriting from Southern Illinois University. Her work experiments with theatrical forms and styles and explores themes of gender, identity, and the body. Her plays have been performed in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Houston (among others). In addition to her playwriting pursuits, she has taught courses in introductory theater, play script analysis and acting. When she’s not writing plays, Kirsten enjoys the challenge of keeping her succulents alive and befriending introverts. To find out more about her plays, check out her website at http://kirsteneaston.wix.com/playwright or follow her on Twitter @easton_kirsten.
